My name is Maria Wong. I was born in San Francisco and moved to Los Angeles for my Bachelor’s in Fine Art at UCLA. After graduating, I stayed in Los Angeles for another couple of years working as an Art teacher. I moved back to the Bay Area to complete my Master’s in Occupational Therapy in 2020. Now I work as a therapist in Chico, CA.
I am of Chinese descent, and my parents are from Toisan. My dad worked as a contractor and handyman while my mom was a cook. I like to think my parents are both artists in their own way, expressing their creativity in their respective fields. I make jewelry, cook, and for the past couple of years, also screen-printed and painted.
When I make a piece, I look for patterns, repetition, and rhythm. I am inspired by the world that surrounds me. I hope that my art does the same for you.
